Welcome from the Head Teacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
A very warm welcome to Potten End C of E Primary School’s website, which we hope will provide you with a flavour of life at our wonderful school.
It is important to make the right choice for the start of your child’s education and whilst our website can give you a window into our school, an actual visit will provide you with an insight into life at our school and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Visits are, therefore, always welcome; we always enjoy meeting new, as well as existing parents and carers. Please contact the school office to make an appointment to visit.
We have high aspirations and expectations for every one of our pupils and all our staff are committed to providing the highest quality of education to ensure every child has every opportunity to achieve and succeed. Children’s progress is monitored carefully throughout their time with us so that we can provide relevant intervention, challenge and support where necessary.
The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
Our values are centred on the child and to us every child does really matter. Our children enjoy rich and engaging learning experiences which promote ownership of learning and lead to high standards of achievement. There is a purposeful atmosphere at Potten End C of E and children benefit from being taught in a stimulating environment. Our children are at the heart of all we do and their achievements are a credit to them, the staff, our governors and our parents and carers.
At the same time, we believe children should develop a sense of responsibility for their actions, having a moral and social awareness of the school family and wider community to which we all belong – a community in which we not only have rights but also responsibilities.
We like to involve parents in their child’s education as much as possible because we believe that learning is heightened when there is a partnership between home and school. If children also receive encouragement and support at home, they will always enjoy their learning and strive to achieve their best in all they do.
We want to encourage a ‘can do’ approach and attitude; we want our children to have the confidence to have a go and try; we want our children to leave at the end of Year 6 as confident students with enquiring minds and a love of learning.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school and working with you throughout your child’s time at Potten End.
