Dacorum Young Artist Competition

by school on 18/05/2015

Year 5 recently participated in the 2015 Dacorum Young Artist Competition. This was an inaugural competition for Year 4 and 5 pupils across the Borough, jointly conceived and run by the Rotary Clubs of Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted Bulbourne and the Gade Valley and Ashridge branches of NADFAS (The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies). All entries had to have been┬ácompleted during the academic year 2014-15 and be the children’s own work, there was no set theme. Judging took place in May.

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May the entries were exhibited at Astley Cooper School and the prizes were awarded by Lady Verulam, Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. The overall winner from the Collett School received a cup and a voucher to be spent on artist’s materials. The Potten End “Best in School” category was won by Emily. Here are some photographs of the children’s entries, Emily with her winning picture and receiving her prize from Mr Rob Ferneyhough from the Rotary Club of Berkhamsted Bulbourne.

Congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part.
