Year 5 Trip to St Albans Cathedral – 5 October 2015

by school on October 6, 2015

Year 5 visited St Albans Cathedral on Monday 5 October. As part of our topic on the Anglo Saxons we were taken on a Saxon trail around the Abbey learning about the Saxons and how they settled in St Albans.

In the afternoon we went to the Education Centre to learn about Saxon food. We learnt about the monastery that existed on the Cathedral’s site and the kind of foods that were grown by the monks who lived there. As part of the workshop we made an apricot topping for pancakes and parsley and chive butter. We tasted our food before leaving at the end of the day.

Please see some photographs taken during our trip.
